Davos Show

In December I was apart of a group show (Songbird Art) in Davos during the Songbird Music Fest and met lots of lovely fellow painters. The show has been extended for most likely the season. If you are in Davos for the WF, drop by Hotel Alexander and there should be another apero/vernissage.

I also enjoyed the Ernst Ludwig Kirchne Museum in Davos.

A visit back to Florence.. my home for 5 years.

I went back to Florence in September to visit old friends and past teachers. I lived and studied in Florence for 5 years. It is always nice to visit Florence, but many of my friends and colleagues have  moved away recently.  I do miss Florence at times but I dont miss the fact that the people you get to know keep leaving once their time there is up. That can get depressing. But its nice there how its such a small city that you always run into someone you know every day you walk around.

Painting in Baratti Italy

I went on a painting trip this September 2011 to Baratti Italy. The weather was great the whole trip and much painting was done in this wonderful Italian landscape from sunrise to sunset.

Sunrise in Baratti

My view

I went and painted at an archaeological dig site where they were digging up 900 year old skeletons.. I felt a bit like Indiana Jones while painting there ;)

The lady I was painting..

They also found there a skeleton that have have been buried as a witch.  Her skeleton revealed that she was about 25-30 years old at the time of her death.  She was likely buried directly in the ground without any casket, but additional details reveal a rather aggressive burial treatment for this woman.  Seven curved nails, each about 4cm long, were found in her mouth.  In addition, 13 more nails were found in an outline around her body, which the archaeologists suggest reflect her being nailed to the ground by her clothing.

You never know what you’ll come across when you are out plein air painting.. like this guy with his wet suit and harpoon.. when he came out he had a bunch of octopus in a net around his waist.. tentacles wrapping around his legs..

He caught 8!

Dinner :)

Painting the sunset.

It was a gorgeous sunset!
